Major Changes To our breeding program
In 2023, we had multiple dogs we produced pass away from a single neurological episode. None of these dogs had shown any symptoms of a neurological disorder ever before the one incident that killed them. The dogs were between 5 - 6 years old and all had a similar pedigree. Because of a pattern we've seen, not only in our dogs, but in other programs with the same dogs in the pedigree, we made the decision to retire ALL of our active breeding dogs.
To our knowledge, only one other breeder in the US has done the same with their program when they experienced a similar issue.
We are saddened by the loss of these amazing dogs, with stellar temperament and health until the day they passed. Unfortunately the Cane Corso breed does not have a genetic DNA test to screen for neurological disease. There is currently no way to know for sure what dog will pass on what. Because of this, we've retired all dogs with ancestors in the pedigree that have been known to produce offspring with neurological issues.
We plan to restart our program with Celia. Our female we purchased in 2020 from Roy Rojas. Our goals for the breed remain the same, to breed SOLID TEMPERAMENT, CORRECT BREED TYPE AND WORKING ABILITY.
Breeding dogs responsibly is no easy task. There are no easy decisions and at the end of the day, were dealing with more unknowns than knowns. We thank all our friends and puppy families who have stood by us during this extremely painful and devastating time.
