Do all puppies raised get the Puppy Culture program?
YES! All puppies that are born here at Potrero are started in the Puppy Culture program in order to maximize their success as adults. To learn more about how ALL of our pups are raised, click here

How often do females come in season?
- Female dogs come in season approximately every 6 - 9 months. The heat cycle lasts 3 weeks

How long is a dog pregnant?
- Pregnancy in dogs lasts between 59 - 72 days. The whelp date usually falls on day 63

When will you know which puppy is mine?
- Temperament testing is done around 11 weeks of age and this is when we decide which pup will be best suited to each waiting home.

When are ear crops done?
- At 6-8 weeks of age is when I take the pups for ear crops at our ear crop veterinarian.

What age can my puppy come home?
- At 11 weeks is when puppies are ready to go home or enter our Advanced Puppy Program

Do you only sell to show homes?
- No. The majority of puppies are sold as gorgeous companions. Only a select few are chosen to be competitive prospects in conformation shows and/or performance venues. For these prospects, we want potential owners to have experience in some sort of competitive sport prior to getting one of these prospects.

How much are puppies?
-All puppies companion or prospect are $4800. This includes all age appropriate shots, deworming, ear crop and tail docked. We also offer puppies from our Advanced Puppy Program click here for info.

Are your dogs health tested?
-Yes we do health testing on the stock we are breeding. We typically do OFA preliminary testing, which occurs before the dog is 2 years old. Health testing is a tool in breeding but not a guarantee that all puppies will be free of any disease. There are many factors we take into consideration when pairing a male and female dog and health is just one part of the process.

Can I choose what color my puppy is?

No. I don't place puppies by color, instead I place them by temperament matched for each family's needs.
