Our Story.....
Potrero Cane Corso is Gabriel & Alexia Rodriguez, we are located in Northern California about an hour from Sacramento. Our first Corso was acquired in 2008. Gabe wanted a strong, beautiful and elegant protection dog to share his home with. Our dog Jack, came from working dog lines from breeder, Max Tran. As a puppy, Jack was taken EVERYWHERE to get him properly socialized and he was obedience trained and learned how to interact well with small and large dogs alike, plus kids of all ages(including adults).
Once the Cane Corso was accepted into the AKC Working Group in 2010, we realized what a beautiful specimen Jack was and we decided to show him. He wasn't a natural in the show ring, and we quickly realized he needed more training. After just a few conformation classes, Jack was loving being a show dog! We took him to several shows and he completed his AKC Championship with multiple Bests of Breed over top specials and finished with 3 Majors!
We then decided to campaign Jack with professional handler, Amy Rutherford in 2011. Jack took to Amy immediately and with her stellar reputation and amazing skill in presenting a dog, Jack finished his first campaign year as the #3 Corso in the country. They continued to make history and have accomplished more than we ever imagined. Jack has been retired from the show ring after competing at Westminster Kennel Club in 2013. To make the most of his retirement, he divides his time between laying on the couch and training to earn some obedience titles! We also plan on using his skills as a therapy dog to go on visits to hospitals and schools. His legacy will be continued through his puppies, we are thrilled to have some lovely prospects with wonderful owners competing in the ring.
We believe that Corsos should be not only beautiful, but also have the ability to do any job asked of them. We view breeding and showing dogs as an "artisan hobby." While getting a title in the conformation ring is wonderful, its not the end, we are committed to breeding the all-around Corso! We are proud and active members of Cane Corso Association of America, Northern California Working Group Association, the Lowchen Club of America and the Del Valle Kennel Club of Livermore. Alexia is also an AKC Permit Judge for Japanese Chin and Cane Corso.
Beautiful Structure, Solid Temperament and Working Ability
